Fire Support Base Diggers Rest , South Vietnam. 1969-10. The Secretary of the Department of Defence, Sir Henry Bland, takes time to enjoy his pipe and to talk with Second Lieutenant Ray Lunny of Grovelly, Qld (right), a member of 9th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (9RAR), at Fire Support Base Diggers Rest in a rubber plantation in western Phuoc Tuy Province. Looking on is the Commanding Officer of 9RAR, Lieutenant Colonel A. L. Morrison of Woodside, SA. Sir Henry's visit to Diggers Rest was part of his three day tour of Australian bases in the theatre.
