Cam Lo, South Vietnam. 1969-10. Warrant Officer Class 2 (WO2) J. M. O'Donnell of Bronte Beach, NSW, regarded as the 'Forward Scout' of the Australian Army Training Team in Vietnam (AATTV) gives details on his return from an operation to the District Chief, Major Nguyen Van Rio, over a cold beer. WO2 O'Donnell is based furthest north of the 100 men of the AATTV. He works with Vietnamese Regional Force and Popular Force soldiers from the District Headquarters, just a few miles south of the Demilitarised Zone (DMZ).
