Victory badge made from an Australian penny
Description
Australian penny (reverse side) which has been cut down, drilled out, and filed down, so only the kangaroo with the word 'AUSTRALIA' above, remains. These elements are joined by remnant metal from the coin, which forms a cut out letter 'V'. This supports 'AUSTRALIA' between the top of the two arms, and is overlain by the kangaroo across its mid section. A safety pin has been soldered onto the back of the badge. The badge is nickel plated. (see REL25191.002 as another example of this method of construction)
History / Summary
Given to the donor in Mackay, Queensland, by a serviceman friend who had been repatriated.
