Matron of 1 Australian Field Hospital, Major Nell Espie of Oatlands, Tasmania (left), escorts Matron in Chief of the Royal Australian Army Nursing Corps (RAANC), Colonel Edna Doig of Manly, NSW, and the Commanding Officer of the 1st Australian Field Hospital (1AFH), Lieutenant Colonel Michael Naughton of Holsworthy, NSW, who stop and talk with 44854 Private Stephen Herbert (Steve) Muller of Plympton, SA, a member of 5th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (5RAR), during a tour of the hospital. Colonel Doig was visiting Australian and American medical installations in the war zone. Private Muller had been wounded with shrapnel to the head and left ear during the battle of Hat Dich in August 1969 and returned to hospital for a month with a severe ear infection in November.
