Paybook photograph taken on enlistment of 401011 Warrant Officer (WO) Louis Willis Moon, No. 454 Squadron, RAAF. WO Moon, aged 25, was killed on 23 July 1943 when his squadron met concentrated and effective anti-aircraft fire while conducting a bombing raid over the east end of the island of Crete. He was the son of Louis Horace and Ruth Selina Moon of North Balwyn, Vic. WO Moon is buried in the Suda Bay War Cemetery, Section 5, Row D, Plot 20.
