Outdoor portrait of 3292 Private (Pte) Charles Henry Hayward, 12th Battalion, of Deloraine, Tas, who enlisted on 29 July 1915 and embarked from Hobart aboard HMAT Ajana on 13 December 1915. He was killed in action at Pozieres, France, on 23 July 1916 aged 19 years. He is commemorated at Villers Bretonneux, France.
