Yokosuka Naval Base, Japan. c. September 1945. Captain H. J. Buchanan, RAN, of Melbourne, Vic, Commanding Officer of the British Landing Force, accepting the surrender of three Japanese personnel on the occupation of the Yokosuka Naval Base in Tokyo Bay. In the background can be seen Australian Navy personnel who form the headquarters guard of this force, coming ashore from assault landing craft, which brought them from transports lying further out in Tokyo Bay.
