Description
Phuoc Tuy Province, South Vietnam. 18 February 1970. A Viet Cong (VC) bunker is prepared for demolition in the Long Hai mountains during Operation Hammersley. Laying the charges are Sapper (Spr) Robert Smith of Bexley, NSW (left) and Spr Brad Hannaford of Grovelly, Qld (standing in the entrance), both members of the 1st Field Regiment, Royal Australian Engineers (RAE). The area where the bunkers were found had been the scene of a clash between the Australians and VC a few days earlier.
