Description
Hathazari, Eastern Bengal, India. c. 21 February 1945. Japanese counterfeiters are versatile. In addition to their 'invasion' money prepared for the conquest of Australia, they printed large stocks of Indian rupee notes. Warrant Officer W. M. (Bill) Gerrard, RAAF, navigator, of Rockhampton, Qld, shows a handful of good souvenirs. They were given to him by soldier casualties evacuated by air from the front.
