Using his headphones and a metal detector, 62025 Sapper (Spr) Darryel Binns (left), of Pyngana, Tas, has located an unidentified object buried in the scrub adjacent to Route 2 (the main north south road in Phuoc Tuy Province). 1736686 Spr Stephen Henry Armbrust (right) of Cairns, Qld, is carefully using the point of his bayonet to locate the object. The pair, known as a 'Mini Team', are members of 1st Field Squadron, Royal Australian Engineers (RAE) and their job is to sweep and clear the road and the work areas around RAE equipment and parked vehicles. The team, who are working in the north of the province, have many false alarms, but they check everything they detect. A pair of M113A1 armoured personnel carriers (APC) are visible in the background and Spr Armbrust is armed with a 5.56 mm M16A1 automatic rifle.
