Australia. 14 February 1969. Matron P. N. Mccarthy (second from right) who has served with the Australian Army for 27 years, including service in New Guinea, Japan, Korea and Malaya, chats with three nursing sisters who left for Vietnam and Malaysia at the weekend. Sister Coralie Hughes, 22, of Morphetville, SA (left) was on her way to join the Commonwealth Military Hospital at Terendak, Malacca. Sister Dianne Lawrence, 23, of Killara, NSW (second from left), and Sister Patricia Yorke, 22, of Camp Hill, Qld (right) were on their way to increase the nursing staff to eight at the 1st Australian Field Hospital, Vung Tau, South Vietnam.
