Shoalwater Bay, Qld. April 1966. Men of 6th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (6RAR), race for cover after landing in a helipad in the Polygon Mountains, during exercises in the Shoalwater Bay training area, north of Rockhampton. Imaginative training in counter-insurgency operations, highlighting final training is fitting the Battalion for its Vietnamese service soon. Here, a `chalk' of six men of the Battalion, lifted in by a RAAF Iroquois helicopter to Helipad Black One, reinforced a company surrounding an enemy pocket.
