Description
Shoalwater Bay, Qld. September 1968. Not a scene from Vietnam, but a village being kept under close guard during cordon and search operations by the 9th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (9RAR), during Exercise Riflebird in the Army's Shoalwater Bay training area. The hut was part of a village complex at Ap Giang (Raspberry Vale) named by members of 7RAR, who played the role of enemy and villagers in the exercise. School cadets from Rockhampton and Yeppoon cadet units played the part of village children.
