The Minister for External Affairs, Mr William McMahon, paid a visit to the 1st Australian Field Hospital. He met the Commanding Officer of 1ATF, Lieutenant Colonel Michael Naughton of Ingleburn, NSW, and chatted to patients, including 3795570 Private Robert Bruce (Bob) Geaghan of Lake Cargelligo, NSW, lying in bed. Mr McMahon visited the major Australian bases while in the war zone and made a trip to the northern provinces to see the advisers of the Australian Army Training Team Vietnam (AATTV).
