Experimental Owen Mk II Sub-machine Gun
Description
Experimental Owen Mk II Sub-machine Gun. Right hand trigger plate stamped OWEN. 9MM. EXPERIMENTAL MK.II. NOV.42D. The gun has not been blued or painted. The sights are set higher than all other Owen guns and they consist of a rear aperture and a single post fore sight. The wooden fore grip is a rectangular block, similar to the Thompson sub-machine gun and possibly not original. The weapon is complete with a magazine.
History / Summary
Anecdotal evidence suggests that this gun is more than likely one of two prototypes made and was possibly sent to the Patents Office in Canberra when Lysaght's sent the documentation for patent approval for the Mk II.
