Akyab, Burma. c. 4 April 1945. Lined up on a dusty Burmese airfield, RAF Douglas C47 Dakota transport aircraft, many of them manned by RAAF crews, have been primarily responsible for the advance of the Fourteenth Army in Burma, for without them it would not have been possible to keep our forward troops supplied.
