In July 1951 Private (Pte) R Carter of Inverloch, Vic, digs out his position on a hillside in Korea as his friends watch him work. The friends are, left to right: Pte N A Siebenhausen of Warwick, Qld; Pte K J Lyons of Gympie, Qld; Pte R B Harley of Townsville, Qld; Pte L V Bryce of Cannington, WA; Pte F R Boyle of Chelsea, Vic, and Pte R B Corcoran of Mt. Gambier, SA, lying on a pile of sandbags. All are members of 3 Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR). On 31 August 1951, 11271 Lance Corporal N A Siebenhausen and 11134 Pte K J Lyons both drowned during a patrol attempting to cross the Imjin River.
