Nui Dat, South Vietnam. August 1971. Warrant Officer Class 1 (WO1) Max Wood of Penrith, NSW, (left), helps equip Tran Van Hong after he had qualified as a plant operator. For the past few months WO1 Wood and other members of 17 Construction Squadron have been voluntarily giving lessons in basic engineering to thirteen Vietnamese youths. The final four graduated recently after having been taught aspects of fitting and turning, vehicle mechanics, plant operation and electrical mechanics.
