Description

Newman speaks of his time on Gallipoli; punishments for being AWL; captured by the Germans in 1917 at Lagnicourt (near Bullecourt) and was a prisoner of war; escape to the Russian Frontier with two Russian prisoners after four weeks on the run in 1918; eventual arrival in England via Canada. Return to Australia at the end of the war.
