Description
Typescript memoirs of 404448 Flight Lieutenant (Flt Lt) Eric F. Maher, No. 460 Squadron, RAAF, titled `My experiences as a prisoner of war in Germany June 8th 1942 - Sept. 8th 1944' (26 pages). Flt Lt Maher was shot down over Holland on 8 June 1942, spent time in hospital in Amsterdam and was then a POW in six different camps in Europe until he was repatriated back to Australia at the end of the Second World War. The narrative contains details of the medical treatment of himself and other blind and injured POWs, daily routines, food rations, escape plans, entertainment, his impressions of the German military and his emotions on being liberated.
