Phuoc Tuy Province, South Vietnam. June 1970. The flat rice paddy provides a backdrop of greenery as a South Vietnamese Army soldier learns ambush techniques from an Army instructor at a fire support base near the 1st Australian Task Force (1ATF) base at Nui Dat. The pupil is Sergeant Dieng of South Vietnam's 5th Cavalry Regiment and the instructor is Warrant Officer Class 2 Danny Neville of Newtown, NSW, with 7th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (7RAR), which has established a special training cadre for South Vietnamese troops.
