Description
Nui Dat, South Vietnam. 1967. The Officer Commanding, Support Company, 7th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (7RAR), Major Ken Bladen, is being handed the Support Company flag by the Company Sergeant Major, Support Company, Warrant Officer 2 James (Jimmy the Hat) Mahoney. The maroon/purple flag with tan fringeing has in the centre a black shield bearing yellow and white embroidered words 'Support Company 7RAR Tracker Team Pioneer Signal Mortar Fire Assault' showing segments denoting the specialist platoons. The flag was made in Baria, South Vietnam, and flown at the 7RAR HQ. It was later flown as a Company Flag in Australia from 1968-1969 and is now held in the Australian War Memorial (REL/05696).
