Papers accumulated by William J. Cuthill relating to his research into the recovery of a Greek flag from the invading German Army by VX16143 Private Reginald Tresise, Signals 1 Australian Corps, from a school in Kozani, Greece, in April 1941. The papers include copies of Private Tresise's war service documents; a one page summary of his career; copies of relevant pages from the war diary of his unit; a copy of a letter, April 1959, from Reginald Tresise to the Mayor of Kozani offering to return the flag; a photograph of the flag in 1980; reports, including newspaper clippings, of various functions and lectures held in 1975, 1993 and 1997 in Greece and Melbourne commemorating the recovery and presentation of the flag; carbon copies of William Cuthill's correspondence file regarding his research.
