Paybook photograph taken on enlistment of 401624 Warrant Officer Ronald Oswald Harris, 454 Squadron, RAAF. Warrant Officer Harris, aged 28, was killed on 23 July 1943 when his squadron met concentrated and effective anti aircraft fire while conducting a bombing raid over the east end of the island of Crete. He was the son of Richard John and Evelyn May Harris, and the husband of Hazel Lorraine Harris, of Bridgewater-on-Loddon, Vic. He is commemorated on the Alamein Memorial Panel 277.
