Bakli Bay, Hainan Island. c. 28 August 1945. WX10861 Private J. Devenish, a member of the 2/21st Australian Infantry Battalion Group, cooking sweet potatoes in a pot in the Australian section of the kitchen in the prisoner of war (POW) Camp. He is holding a wooden paddle to stir the pot. The Australians in this Camp were captured by the Japanese on Amboina early in 1942.
