Description
South Vietnam. September 1970. An Australian sapper explains the basics of wiring to two Vietnamese youths being trained as electricians as part of the greatly expanded civic action work of the 1st Australian Task Force (1ATF). The Vietnamese youths are being trained in a variety of trades by on-the-job training with Australian soldiers, including building, plant operating and mechanics. The apprenticeships with the Task Force are for about six months. Here Sapper Brenton Rowse, 23, of Glandore, SA (centre), a member of the 17th Construction Squadron, takes charge of Ho Van Hai, 15, and Ho Van Muoi, 16, from the province capital of Baria.
