South Vietnam. October 1970. Outward bound for combat operations in northern South Vietnam is an Australian advisor and his Vietnamese counterparts. The advisor is Warrant Officer Class 2 (WO2) Frank Beattie, 30, of Rockhampton, Qld, serving with the Australian Army Training Team Vietnam (AATTV), on his second twelve month tour of duty in the country. With WO2 Beattie, aboard an armoured personnel carrier (APC), is Major Nguyen Hoa, closest to the camera, who commands the squadron in which WO2 Beattie is an advisor.
