Tokarev AVT40 Rifle
Tokarev AVT40 Rifle. Cast and machined steel receiver with a pressed steel top cover plate. Full wood stock that has single finger grooves on each side of the fore grip and the fore end is two piece drilled pressed metal. The safety catch is in the trigger guard. The Serial number is stamped on the left side of the frame and the butt. The right side of the butt has a five pointed star and '1943 A'. The magazine is stamped '915' and '4563'. The AVT40 was the select fire version of the SVT40 and was outwardly identical to it. Only a small number were made with the select fire mechanism as the rifle was rather frail in construction. The rifle served with Soviet forces during the later half of the Second World War but was soon replaced by more efficient weapons after the cessation of hostilities.
