Description
A captured heavy artillery piece on a flat car in Alexandria Railway Yard. On the left is a German 170mm K18 Mortar Carriage cannon, which could fire 1 - 2 rounds per minute (40 per hour). This gun was designed so that, in action, it could be easily rotated through 360 degrees by one man. When captured, these guns were often used by Allied artillery troops in Europe. Behind the 170mm K18, is a M3 Stewart tank, and behind that is a line of Bren gun carriers.
