Description
A group of Voluntary Aid Detachment (VAD) nurses marching along George Street after attending a Christmas service in the Cathedral. They are on their way to the Women's Weekly Club, where the Australian Red Cross is providing Christmas dinner. In the afternoon, the VAD's were invited to visit Manly. On the way, there was a hold up due to a submarine scare in the Harbour, and the ferries were unable to run until the "all clear" had been given. On their arrival in Manly the VAD's were welcomed by the Mayor. (Donor N. M. Russell)
