Studio portrait of S5973 Able Seaman (AB) Neil Roberts, of Sydney, NSW. AB Roberts was on board HMAS Kuttabul on the night of 31 May 1942 when the converted ferry was sunk in Sydney Harbour from a torpedo fired by Japanese midget submarine A. During the Second World War, AB Roberts also served on HMAS Cerberus, HMAS Penguin (Garden Island), HMAS Dubbo and various DEMS (Defensively Equipped Merchant Ships). He served in the Navy for four years.
