Studio portrait of Lieutenant (Lt) Frank Reinhardt Fischer, 6th Battalion. An accountant from East St. Kilda, Vic prior to enlistment, Lt Fischer embarked with the 25th Reinforcements from Melbourne on HMAT Themistocles on 4 August 1917. On 10 August 1918 he was killed in action aged 30, and is buried in the Heath Cemetery, Harbonnieres. His brother Harold Fischer of the Otago Regiment, New Zealand Expeditionary Force had previously died of wounds received in action at Gallipoli.
