Description
(SX2970) Corporal John Robertson McNicol of South Australia with his parrot "Iorobaiwa Joe", rescued from native carriers who had been plucking its feathers for their headdress. The parrot has covered a hundred odd miles across the Owen Stanleys to the coast perched on the corporal's shoulder. The parrot lives on army biscuits. (Negative by G. Silk).
