c. 1919. Studio portrait of Lieutenant Joseph (Joe) Leddy, MM, ED, 45th Battalion. Sergeant Leddy, of Kempsey, NSW, was awarded the Military Medal for gallantry on the night of 6-7 August 1915 during the night advance of the 4th Brigade. As platoon sergeant of A Company, 13th Battalion, he displayed exceptional bravery and skill in handling his men while clearing a hill of snipers after the platoon commander was severely wounded. He enlisted on 17 September 1914, serving in Gallipoli and France before returning to Australia in September 1919. (Donor A. Leddy)
