Description
Three wounded Australians, all from NSW and serving with the 55/53rd Battalion, make their way out of the front line to a first aid station. Identified left to right; N212796 Private (Pte) William Henry Walker, NX140964 Pte Keith Edward Beckmann and NX153939 Pte Bruce Robert Chadwick. The men were wounded during the Battalion's attack on Japanese entrenched astride the Sanananda Track on 7 December 1942, which resulted in 229 members of the Battalion being listed as killed, wounded or missing.
