Cairo, Egypt. c. 1944. Group portrait of repatriated AIF prisoners of war (POWs) from Germany at a camp situated on the outskirts of Cairo. Soon they will be on board a ship bound for Australia. They were exchanged for German prisoners in our hands and travelled through Germany on a hospital train to Marseilles, there embarking on the sea voyage to Barcelona where the exchanges were effected under the auspices of a neutral.
