PAPUA, GIROPA POINT. GENERAL STUART M3 TANKS MANNED BY 7 TROOP, B SQUADRON, 2/6TH ARMOURED REGIMENT, ATTACK JAPANESE PILLBOXES IN THE FINAL ASSAULT ON BUNA. ON THE LEFT, WOUNDED SOLDIER CORPORAL H. BOWERING IS CARRIED OUT BY CORPORALS R. CUNEN AND PALMER DURING THE ADVANCE. THE TANK AT RIGHT CONTINUES WITH THE ACTION WHILST IN THE CENTRE BREN GUNNER, PRIVATE J. SEARLE, GIVES COVERING FIRE FOR REMOVAL OF THE WOUNDED. ON THE LEFT OF THE TANK IS SERGEANT J. CONDON, AND ON THE RIGHT CORPORAL G. G. FLETCHER. THIS PHOTOGRAPH WAS TAKEN DURING THE ACTUAL FIGHTING.
