Description
Australian-manned General Stuart M3 Light Tanks bust Japanese pillboxes in a final assault on Buna. Men of D Company, 2/12th Battalion, advance as tanks blast a pillbox. Shell burst on pillbox can be seen at left. Hit by a Japanese sniper, an Australian (second from right) drops to his knees. Identified are Corporal M O Croker (left) and Private Daniels (far right). This photograph was taken during the actual fighting.
