NSW. Paybook photograph of NX2650 Private Howard John Jennens, 2/1st Battalion, Australian Infantry. Private Jennens, aged 27, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 21 May 1941. He was the son of Henry Harbridge Jennens and Frederica Violet Emma Jennens, of Ashgrove, Qld. He is buried in the Suda Bay Cemetery Section 1, Row C, Plot 8.
