NSW. Paybook photograph of NX2813 Private Robert Charles Evans, 2/1st Battalion, Australian Infantry. Private Evans, aged 22, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 22 May 1941. He was the son of James Robert and Ethel Alfreda Heather Evans, of Woollahra, NSW. He is buried in the Suda Bay Cemetery Section 1, Row E, Plot 1.
