NSW. Paybook photograph of NX3179 Bombardier John Henry May, 2/3rd Field Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery. Bombardier May, aged 32, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 23 May 1941. He was the son of Neil Rupert and Mary Alma May, and the husband of Patricia Maureen Kathleen Elise May, of Elizabeth Bay, NSW. He is buried in the Suda Bay Cemetery Section 1, Row D, Plot 8.
