NSW. Paybook photograph of NX3295 Gunner Alfred Henry Kruger, 2/3rd Field Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery. Gunner Kruger, aged 30, died on 5 August 1944, as a Prisoner of War (POW), after being captured on 30 May 1941, while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion. He was the son of Gottlieb and Mildred Ellen Kruger, of Darlinghurst, NSW. He is buried in the Cracow Rakowicki Cemetery, Poland, , Poland, Section 2A, Row B, Plot 10.
