NSW. Paybook photograph of NX3877 Corporal John Kelly, 2/1st Battalion, Australian Infantry. Corporal Kelly, aged 32, was killed in action while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 22 May 1941. He was the son of Robert and Lily Margaret Kelly, of Darlington, NSW. He is buried in the Suda Bay Cemetery Section 5, Row A, Plot 15.
