NSW. Paybook photograph of NX4080 Private Harold Francis Mitchell, 2/1st Battalion, Australian Infantry. Private Mitchell, aged 34, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 21 May 1941. He was the son of Walter Francis and Florence Mary Mitchell, of Mosman, NSW. He is buried in the Suda Bay Cemetery Section 1, Row C, Plot 17.
