NSW. Paybook photograph of NX7778 Corporal John James Sydney Nicholson, 2/1st Battalion, Australian Infantry. Corporal Nicholson, aged 25, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 20 May 1941. He was the son of John and Elizabeth Nicholson, of Randwick, NSW.
