NSW. Paybook photograph of NX8631 Bombardier Charles James Leaver, 2/3rd Field Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery. Bombardier Leaver, aged 26, died on 27 May 1941, of injuries received when his gun accidentally discharged, during the defence of the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion. He was the son of Lillian A. Leaver, of Sydney, NSW. He is commemorated on the Athens Memorial Face 10. (Photograph supplied by the Army's Soldier Career Management Agency.
