NSW. Paybook photograph of NX10066 Bombardier Arthur Edward Oliphant, 2/3rd Field Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery. Bombardier Oliphant, aged 35, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 21 May 1941. He was the son of Arthur Morris and Christina Kate Oliphant, of Hawthorn, Vic. He is buried in the Suda Bay Cemetery Section 1, Row D, Plot 5.
