NSW. Paybook photograph of NX11063 Private Raymond Hugh Wilfred Newson, 2/1st Battalion, Australian Infantry. Private Newson, aged 26, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 27 May 1941. He was the son of Robert and Emma Newson, of Wentworthville, NSW.
