NSW. Paybook photograph of NX11078 Private George Francis Hill, 2/1st Battalion, Australian Infantry. Private Hill, aged 23, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 21 May 1941. He was the son of Roger Bede Hill and Jessie May Hill, of Paddington, NSW. He is buried in the Suda Bay Cemetery Section 1, Row B, Plot 14.
