NSW. 6 August 1940. Paybook photograph of NX12158 Lieutenant John James Roderick, 2/2nd Battalion, Australian Infantry. Lieutenant Roderick, aged 32, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 1 June 1941. He was the son of William Thomas Roderick and Katherine Roderick and the husband of Melba Roderick, of Weston, NSW. He is buried in the Suda Bay Cemetery Section 5, Row D, Plot 3.
